Alex Perry, Dave's friend from NWOBHM band MYTHRA, asked Dave if he could play some lead guitar on the next DARK MATTER album, after hearing the third album "The Ghosts Of Dunwich" (2019). Dave agreed and decided that he'd like Alex to join permanently, which he agreed to do. Alex had actually asked the same question after the second album "Wood Lane" (2017).
For those last two albums, DARK MATTER was a two piece band. Dave played everything and Stefan Hepe of prog band GANDALF'S FIST played the drums and mixed and mastered the music.
Soon after the release of "The Ghosts Of Dunwich", Stefan mentioned to Dave that he was snowed under at work and couldn't find any time in the near future for DARK MATTER, so Dave and Alex decided to record an album alone, as Dave had written many new DARK MATTER songs and was worried that the band might be over, knowing the facts of the issues. He also wanted to work with Alex, so they could find their feet so to speak, but keep the band alive in hope Stefan could continue after the dust storm had settled.
So, ARCADIAN TEMPLE was born.
Fast forward to the fourth DARK MATTER album, "The Rectory". DARK MATTER had started recording again after the release of "Arcadian Temple". This time as a four piece, having added Gary Aubert on bass. Gary was a member of NWOBHM band LEGEND, from Jersey.
Recording had started. Stefan had played on and started mixing two tracks when similar problems arose again. Dave and Stefan decided it was probably best for him to leave the band at this point sadly. Stefan had already left briefly and returned previous to this decision
Dave took over on the drums and also the mixing and mastering duties. So that was that, DARK MATTER became a three piece.
So, back to "Arcadian Temple". Being offered here is a few copies left from this underground, self release. The album really is the start of the new period of DARK MATTER.
Had Dave and Alex known what the future held, it would have been a DARK MATTER album.
This album most definitely goes hand in hand with "The Rectory".
